Enhanced Facilitating Skills Course

This workshop will provide participants with the tools, techniques and skills needed to effectively implement comprehensive services and programs to individuals, groups and in community environments.

Course Description

This 2-day workshop is designed to enhance individuals’ skills in training on Effective Behavioral Interventions and other related HIV prevention programs. It includes group, pair and individual activities.  The activities include a review of various teaching strategies, identification of the qualities to becoming an effective trainer and understanding how to effectively work with a co-trainer to conduct Effective Behavioral Interventions (EBI’s) through demonstration and practice.

Course Objectives

Participants will be able to:

• Understand the roles and responsibilities of a trainer
• Explain the various stages of group development
• Identify the characteristics of adult learning
• Identify the difference between training and facilitation
• Identify the varying roles of a trainer and facilitator and how to use each role appropriately and effectively
• Model effective training and facilitation skills
• Understand and demonstrate strategies to manage challenging participants in their training sessions
• Practice the delivery of facilitating a training though an assigned teach back
